This role requires a seasoned real estate research professional who is insightful, intelligent and articulate, with exceptional energy and enthusiasm to lead the US Research team at Avison Young. This individual will be client-orientated, an outstanding presenter and a recognised thought leader on US Commercial Real Estate.
You will relish creating and driving a national thought leadership programme which harnesses the intellectual capabilities of the US Research team and that of the wider business. You will also be an innovative thinker who recognises and embraces the ways technology will shape the future of the real estate services sector, and actively pursue opportunities to incorporate technology into the working practices of Research. An inspirational leader and a clear thinker, you will be capable of partnering closely with the business, the Global Head of Research and colleagues in Marketing & Communications, Business Development and Innovation. You will also be a key participant in the Global Research leadership team. This position will report to the Global Head of Research.
AY Research has a presence in over 30 offices in the U.S. so this role requires someone who is a natural leader and relationship-builder as well as someone who is skilled at stakeholder management and building and mentoring a virtual team. The successful candidate will be supported by the US Research Strategy and Operations Director and the national Research leadership group, all of whom will be direct or matrix reports to the US Head of Research.
The successful candidate will have a strong client network and must be familiar with multiple asset-types, ideally with a strong background in economic and/or capital markets research.
Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to;
Leadership & Management; Exceptional team leader, capable of creating a strong sense of purpose and identity to bring together a virtual team. Leveraging this platform to develop and drive standardised outputs. Ultimate responsibility for creating and delivering the strategic vision for the team. Overall responsibility for the management and operational performance of US Research, including prudent budgeting and financial management.
US Market Spokesperson; Real Estate market commentator and thought leadership expert. Comfortable presenting to large audiences at industry conferences and client events, as well as speaking with journalists and on television.
US National Research & Thought Leadership; Producing national-level market commentary and thought leadership (with appropriate assistance from other members of the US Research leadership team).
Alignment; Forging close relationships with business leaders, business departments and the Innovation, Business Development and Marketing and Comms teams to drive more successful, research-led client outcomes.
Recruitment ; Involved in significant US Research hires, including some city-led recruitment for senior local Research positions. Overall responsibility for the appropriate resourcing of Research across the US, working in partnership with local Managing Directors where appropriate.
Learning and Development ; Identify, develop and monitor high-performance individuals across the network. Establish a career framework and skills assessment for all researchers, mandating feedback and mentoring at all levels to elevate the team and provide individual progression.
Data & Technology; Engaging with the Innovation Team in the development and implementation of a US Data Strategy and in the development and rollout of new analytical tools and processes.
