RESPONSIBILITIES:

Lead the Bose Automotive System Division (ASD) Category & Product Management function comprised of an entrepreneurial team charged with the planning of future products and technology that enhance and grow existing product categories as well as executing current product-line lifecycle management. Key responsibilities and deliverables include leading the Portfolio Management and Product Planning processes along with development and execution of product plans and product roadmaps that lead to compelling production intent products and viable business cases. Reporting to the Head of the Automotive Division, the Category & Product Management Leader will be a member of the division?s executive team.

WHAT WE WANT YOU TO DO

  • Category and Product Line ManagementCollaborate with Customer and Market Intelligence team to acquire and apply research and insightCreates value proposition statements/product descriptions and communicates to Customer Teams. Collaborates with Marketing and Communication teams to develop appropriate OEM and consumer messages and selling propositions for products based on research and insight attained from market research, competitive analysis and market intelligence. Communicates with, and assures understanding of, unique selling propositions by the Customer Teams. Acts as a subject matter expert in customer presentations at multiple levels up to and including VP/chief engineer level.Manages naming and overall product branding. Collaborates with Product Communication/ Product Marketing to develop appropriate product and technology naming, brand positioning and differentiation in alignment with pricing strategies. Looks for synergy with other Bose products and attempts to integrate technology naming conventions across all product lines and between Bose divisions.?Lead the development of Business Cases for new product concepts. Collaborate extensively with Finance and Customer teamsSet strategic pricing for new products. Collaborate with Pricing COE and Finance before deploying to the global Customer teams.Collaborate with Finance to manage Category, Product Line, and Software Feature volume and revenue including Profit & Loss statements.
  • Product Planning and Portfolio Processes:
  • Lead the ASD?s strategic product planning activity including participating in regularly scheduled phase-gate approvals for individual products and prioritization exercises for all products in the portfolio
  • Manage the phase-gate process for new ideas from concepts through evaluation and on to inclusion in the portfolio as appropriate and consistent with available ASD resources.
  • Lead development and maintenance of an annual ASD Strategic Product Plan composed of short and long-term component and technology development priorities & strategies as well as a portfolio of products and components roadmaps (timed).
  • Compile and integrate product plan information into the Business Planning process.
  • Lead Quarterly Portfolio review meetings to evaluate investment spending, status, and progress relative to annual and long-term objectives. Design and implement recovery plans as necessary.
  • Utilize ASD and Corporate tools as available. Define future tools and system needs for Department and work with Business Operations to source suppliers as required.
  • Product and System Planning:
  • Defines, plans, and manages all ASD products/systems/technology and software features. Tracks and maintains evolution/lifecycle plans for transducers, amplifiers, software features, etc.
  • Seek to improve performance, reduce cost, reduce mass, and maximize common application and re-use to make development of new applications as efficient and cost effective as possible with respect to the use of engineering/R&D resources.
  • Work with internal R&D and Supply Chain organizations to leverage/create manufacturing and supply- base efficiencies and innovation for components and software.

    Education/Experience:

    A BS in engineering or related technical field is strongly preferred or comparable experience is required. Candidates should have 15+ years of progressive technical and business experience in areas of product and category management, engineering, operations finance, strategic marketing, program management, technical sales or strategic planning. Experience in automotive electronics; specifically audio, acoustics, active noise reduction or NVH, is strongly preferred. Knowledge of other automotive subsystems including powertrain, body and interiors is desired. International business experience and work with large, automotive OEMs and Tier One suppliers is a strong plus.
