VBA DeveloperLocation: Troy. MIDuration: 6 months Kelly Services has an opportunity for an experienced Visual Basic for Applications developer. This position requires a person with solid Visual Basic 6 or newer skills, strong verbal and written communication skills and able to gather requirements. The candidate should be comfortable communicating with individuals and groups ranging from data entry clerks to senior directors. This position is also part of a collaborative team, and although much of the development is performed on an individual basis, collaboration is expected to ensure all solutions are implemented with relative consistency. Description The role of the VBA Developer/Software Engineer is to collaborate directly with end users to gather requirements, develop, and test reasonable automation solutions. This collaboration can occur in-person, via phone, instant message, or through email. As such, strong verbal and written communication skills are a must. Definitive direction is not always provided; thus, the developer must be willing and able to negotiate with the end user to find the most appropriate solution to meet the need all while adhering to IT/development standards. This process of development can often require a level of creativity to find a dynamic solution as the problem is not always linear. Responsibilities

  • Research processes identified by the business as requiring automation
  • Collaborate with end users to define requirements and processes
  • Collaborate with other developers to ensure proposed solution fit the intended model
  • Develop and test proposed solutions
  • Implement solutions and educate end users as needed regarding how to use the automated process
  • Manage and prioritize workload
  • Support new and existing development


  • Minimum 2 years experience with Visual Basic 6 or newer
  • Solid understanding of Object-Oriented Programing concepts and practices
  • An understanding of Agile software development
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel data management, manipulation, and formulas
  • Preferred experience with C# and/or Java


  • Bachelor s degree or equivalent work experience.
