Johnson & Johnson is currently recruiting for the Global Head, TB Partnerships within the Global Public Health organization. This position can be located on the east coast of the US, the EMEA region or APAC region. Background Charting a bold, new, sustainable approach, Global Public Health (GPH) is pushing boundaries as the first fully-dedicated organization within a healthcare company that combines R&D, novel access programs and business model innovation, in-country operations, and advocacy to ensure that innovative treatments and technologies of public health importance are available, affordable and accessible for the world's most underserved populations. The TB Focus Area Strategy Team (FAST) is a dedicated cross-functional group of professionals focused on market access, medical affairs, research & development, on-the-ground execution, programs and partnerships. The TB FAST has a relentless focus on delivering transformational innovation for patients in high-burden countries to end drug-resistant tuberculosis (DR-TB). This includes accelerated access and adoption of bedaquiline, Johnson & Johnson's medicine against DR-TB, the first drug with a novel mechanism of action against TB in more than 40 years. The TB FAST works to ensure that bedaquiline is available, affordable and accessible to patients in need, and that there is the ability for countries to successfully adopt the drug into their DR-TB clinical practice. In addition to access programs, the team supports high-burden countries to train health workers, improve diagnostic capacity and raise awareness and reduce stigma around TB. The FAST has set the following goals for its 5-year strategy: 1) accelerate implementation of WHO DR-TB treatment guidelines; 2) generate data and drive global adoption of bedaquiline in DR-TB short course regimen; 3) activate prompt and appropriate diagnosis of DR-TB; 4) deliver transformational in ovation in DR-TB care. Role description The TB FAST aims to maximize the reach, impact and efficiency of its programs through strategic engagement with external partners to complement TB FAST capabilities in select areas and geographies. The Global Head, TB Partnerships is responsible for developing and implementing a TB FAST partnership strategy with a focus on technical and implementation partners, in close coordination with FAST business leaders and in support of TB FAST goals. This includes the design and coordination of projects with external implementing partners to accelerate the uptake of bedaquiline in FAST priority countries with limited GPH capacity on the ground. Current high-priority, global partners for the TB FAST include STOP TB Partnership, USAID, the Global Drug Facility, KNCV, the WHO TB team, Unitaid, Harvard Medical School, and PATH. The Global Head, TB Partnerships will work with the Operations Lead and relevant OpCo staff to identify appropriate local partners in high-priority countries. The Global Head, TB Partnerships will be responsible for delivering the necessary support from the TB FAST functional teams to empower and enable successful execution of country, regional and global partnerships. The Global Head, TB Partnerships works in close collaboration with Government and External Affairs colleagues especially where it concerns external partners with whom GPH has multiple (non-FAST) strategic touchpoints such as The Global Fund to Fight Aids, TB and Malaria (TGF). The Global Head, TB Partnerships will provide strategic input and oversight for any TB related activities in multilateral relationships and will work closely with Sr. Director, External Affairs to deliver on such partnerships. Responsibilities TB FAST program strategy and execution Conduct research and develop recommendations for TB FAST programs and partnerships in TB FAST priority countries, including assessing the epidemiological situation, government programs and investments, relevant local policies and guidelines, key implementing partners, etc. in close coordination with the TB Operations Leader and relevant local and regional OpCo staff. Coordinate the development of a program and partnerships strategy to deliver TB FAST goals in high-priority countries in close collaboration with TB FAST leaders and OpCo leaders. Design and oversee implementation of prioritized projects with external partners in high-priority countries Facilitate TB FAST engagement with (and coordinate technical inputs to) WHO to support the ongoing strategic dialogue regarding DR-TB guideline development. Provide partnerships support for special TB FAST initiatives such as the identification and contracting of a pediatrics donation program partners in close coordination with FAST product and marketing leaders. Strategic external engagement with technical TB partners Provide strategic input and oversight for any TB related activities in multilateral relationships and will work closely with Sr. Director, External Affairs to deliver on such partnerships. Build new and foster existing relationships with key technical TB partners such as USAID, the WHO TB team, Harvard Medical School, KNCV. Support FAST engagement with (potential) research and funding partners such as Unitaid, FIND, academic institutions, etc. in close coordination with R&D business leaders and other relevant GPH staff. Monitor relevant developments in relation with technical TB partners Cross-functional FAST deliverables Actively contribute to TB FAST strategy and business planning Support the Global Marketing Leader in their engagement with the Global Drug Facility and other partners involved with the distribution of bedaquiline Work with the Director for TB Communications to ensure TB Fast programs and partnerships are reflected in external communication Provide projects and partnerships inputs for SDG, Access to Medicine Index, and H4H reporting Qualifications A minimum of a Bachelor's degree or equivalent is required.
