As our Head of VEO Data, Methods and Analytics you will develop capabilities around accessibility of data, integration of new technology, and the adoption of state of the art methods.This is an exciting role to use your eye for innovation, scalability and efficiency, and be accountable for our Data & Analytics platform.

This role will provide YOU the opportunity to lead key activities to progress YOUR career, these responsibilities include some of the following:

  • Overseeing a TA-aligned team of methodologists, analysts and data experts.
  • Lead the team providing data, methodological and analytical expertise, through strategic input regarding re-use of clinical trial data or utilization of real world data (e.g. patient-level healthcare insurance claims, EMR, disease cohorts, population surveys) and oversee all internal observational database analyses. Expand access to expert advice on RWD sources to answer priority research questions.
  • Lead the development and implementation of an enterprise-wide RWD acquisition/partnership strategy and strategic data alliances, working directly with senior stakeholders in VEO, GCSP, US-Pharma, OCMO, medical and R&D TA Leads, Global Franchise Platform, for both foundational data assets as well as fit for purpose disease/product specific data assets. Make recommendations to acquire/partner for additional resources to enhance data availability and delivery of RWE to internal customers which meet the evolving R&D and corporate priorities.
  • Coordination with internal partners (R&DTech, DCS, etc.) to enable development of a RWE platform that is aligned with the needs of the team. The platform would include data (accessible directly and through partnerships), analytical and visualization components and would require close collaboration with other stakeholders on the continually evolving requirements (e.g. linking to remotely captured patient data).
  • Make recommendations on future strategic directions for RWE capabilities to ensure GSK maintains a leading position in this field. Sponsor and oversee implementation to ensure that relevant key RWE strategic priorities are embedded. Obtain feedback from stakeholders and continuously modify to improve uptake and increase return on investment.
  • Oversight and leadership for VEO Protocol Review Forum.
  • Act as single point of contact for VEO Data and Analytics across the enterprise (including VEO, Medical & Safety, Biostats, Data and Computational sciences, Market Access & other commercial partners, Safety etc.).
  • Ensure alignment with Consumer Healthcare and Vaccines. Explore joint RWD platform with Vaccines given economies of scale.
  • Recruit, develop and retain team including experienced methodologists, technical experts, analysts and RWD partnership managers.
  • Ensure critical scientific review/governance of all proposals to use the RWD resources and ensure that rigorous and externally credible research methods are utilized.
  • Stays abreast of the latest methodology and technology developments through continuous monitoring of the external landscape and engagement with professional societies.
  • Represents GSK on major external RWE initiatives and tracks impact globally; establish relationships and collaborations with key external organizations in the area of RWD and Analytics.
  • Contribute to the continuing education on relevant, state-of-the-art methodology.

    Basic Qualifications:

    We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:

  • Masters Degree in Health Outcomes, Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Health Informatics or closely related discipline.

  • Expert in the development and use of clinical data repositories in healthcare settings.
  • Expert knowledge and substantial experience of quantitative scientific methods and epidemiology applied to drug development and post-marketing studies.

  • Proven experience designing and/or executing Real World Evidence studies, including characterizing disease phenotypes, comparativesafety or effectiveness studies, pragmatic clinical trials.

  • Very strong analytical skills and a background in applying statistical techniques in research is essential.

  • Experience in using the latest analytical techniques in epidemiology, including using databases to answer complex longitudinal research questions.

  • Large Team management experience and requisite leadership behaviors.

  • Preferred Qualifications:

    If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:

  • PHD

  • Publications in observational research or clinical journals

  • Understanding of organizational processes, working cross-functionally with Safety, Value Evidence & Outcomes, Clinical, Market Access, and other functional areas.

  • Experience with leading projects/project management
