Job Summary: Support the overall long-term financial strength of Hartford Hospital by implementing an effective Planned Giving Program through program leadership, prospect management and subject matter expert.
Job Responsibilities: 1. Program Leadership Develop annually the Planned Giving component of the Philanthropy Department plan, incorporating strategic and creative ways to broaden and further strengthen planned giving activities. Develop the Planned Giving Program budget with the Vice President, Philanthropy. Develop, implement and sustain a disciplined and robust planned giving program for Hartford Hospital, to include processes around planned gift administrative procedures, communications and marketing, strategic and proactive outreach, stewardship activities, and prospect identification and cultivation. Develop and maintain processes to assess future expectancies and other reports related to planned gifts, and communicate to appropriate areas within the hospital and Hartford HealthCare system. Develop and implement schedule of educational seminars with robust follow up plan with attendees. 2.Prospect Management - Manage the identification, cultivation, solicitation, stewardship and recognition of a personal portfolio of approximately 100+ planned gift prospects. Provide planned gift guidance and support to colleagues in the Philanthropy Department related to their prospect portfolios. Identify, cultivate and solicit prospective donors and current donors for the purpose of negotiating and closing various planned giving arrangements. Solicit planned gifts for Hartford Hospital in response to an inquiry. Maintain contact with planned gift donors and their advisors. Identify and utilize tailored gatherings to further advance relationships with prospects through individual or group luncheons, dinners, tours and other activities. Assure donor confidentiality as well as the confidentiality of prospects undertaken by the Philanthropy Department by conducting all personal contacts and communications with donors in a professional manner. 3.Subject Matter Expert Demonstrate detailed and in-depth knowledge of planned giving and its complexities, including tax laws and such planned gifts as trusts, charitable annuities, life insurance, wills and bequests. Stay current on laws and regulations governing planned gifts. Oversee and evaluate Hartford Hospital policies and procedures related to planned giving. Develop and sustain a formal ongoing program to coach and teach existing Philanthropy staff on planned giving.
Qualifications Baccalaureate degree Required Minimum of eight years professional development or related experience required. Demonstrated record of success in a related career field such as law, accounting or financial planning preferred.
