The Internal Communications Specialist is a key member of HBC?s Internal Communications (IC) team. This individual will work closely with IC leadership to develop and execute communications programs that inform and engage Associates across the company. This includes the evolution of the company?s communications channels and the development and tracking of KPI?s / metrics to measure the team?s impact. The IC Specialist will also partner with members of the Corporate Communications & Public Relations teams and support internal business partners to address internal communications needs for HBC?s corporate offices and business units. He/she will focus on Associate engagement and drive interest in and awareness amongst internal stakeholders on organizational change, news, information and events.

  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and time-management skills
  • Strong researching, editing, and proofreading skills including a familiarity with AP style
  • Ability to coordinate projects and see through to completion; demonstrates ownership and accountability for projects; high degree of attention to detail
  • A high degree of professionalism and strong interpersonal skills including the ability to interact effectively across all levels of the organization
  • Ability to prioritize and work well in a fast-paced environment
  • Team player - focused on customer service

  • You'll also have:
  • University degree in Communications, English, Journalism or a related discipline OR Community College/ Diploma or certification in corporate communications or public relations
  • 3-5 years experience in communications and/or marketing and/or public relations roles
  • Proficiency with MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel
  • Experience with SharePoint 2013 an asset
  • Experience with Google Suite an asset
  • Graphic design capabilities an asset (In Design, Photoshop)

  • As The Communications Specialist, You Will Be Responsible For:
  • Developing and supporting various communications programs in alignment with company priorities
  • Writing, editing and proofreading content for various types of materials that adapt to a variety of audiences and formats including: company-wide email messages, online content, newsletter articles
  • Coordinating, scheduling and disseminating company-wide emails to internal audiences (i.e. organizational announcements, senior executive messages, and quarterly financial results)
  • Supporting business partners/stakeholders on internal communications needs and providing counsel
  • Working closely with IC leadership on evolving our communications channels, including new channel introduction
  • Management of IC vehicles, including IC mailbox, HBC newsletter and all HBC internal email communications
  • Serve as the editor of the HBC weekly newsletter including: managing content, layout and distribution
  • Developing and tracking metrics & KPI?s to measure the impact of internal communications messages
  • Daily management of IC editorial calendar mapping out content across our channels
  • Special projects and event coordination
  • Administrative duties as required
