**Your Role and Responsibilities**
The Senior Designer role works within the IBM sales engagement community to **facilitate, design, and deliver original messages, branding and** **information** **structures** that add pivotal value during client engagements.
The role is multilayered and requires an individual who can demonstrate an understanding of the elements needed to win in complex engagements and then **generate successful, dynamic responses to complex information challenges.**
They must be able to listen and quickly and effectively grasp complex IBM technical solutions and offer advice on content strategies that best shape these solutions into effective deliverables **,** **ranging from printed collateral, to online and multimedia deliverables.**
**The Senior Information Designer must also be able to mentor and coach junior designers in the team, supervising across projects, providing guidance and knowledge sharing across the design discipline.**
**Responsibilities and Accountabilities:**
The Senior Designer will preferably come from a senior background of design, communication and sales and will have **business training and experience, industry know-how, initiative and proven branding and marketing experience.** They will also have proven experience in overseeing and mentoring junior designers.
+ Proven leadership experience with the ability to manage, mentor and guide junior designers and writers on complex projects
+ Outstanding graphic design skills used to produce digital and print pieces; skills in typography, illustration, photo manipulation and layout, etc. ?
+ Proficiency in design, web and multimedia software and applications (Adobe Creative Suite)?
+ Expert knowledge of print, digital, and multimedia. SME in user interface design and multimedia software tools and techniques?
+ Act as an integrator to bring together the disciplines of graphic design, marketing and writing to create compelling information solutions
+ Specialized knowledge of branding and the ability to manage an entire marketing campaign, not just the production of specific pieces, and demonstrate an ability to keep team members working within established deadlines?
+ Ability to quickly and efficiently convey complex, often technical information in a simple, clear and compelling graphic manner?
+ Design proposal and presentation structures that allow the rapid development of the agreed story. This will include bringing successful IP and design elements from previous engagements and reshaping for particular audiences and contexts, as well as original information design
+ Edit and reconstruct solution information for meaning and clarity
+ Design and build information graphics focused on communication, not decoration
+ Drive and manage the development of deliverables through to publishing and presentation against engagement deadlines
+ Address high level information problems to provide the greatest possible clarity, understanding and effectiveness by implementing systemized processes in the myriad of information disciplines
+ Actively encourage and participate in research that increases the understanding of information and the effect that it has: how and why people respond to information, how the human brain processes information and builds knowledge, as well as how humans organize knowledge and convert it into improved behavior and operation. ?
+ Networking with thought leaders and tactical practitioners, and participating in the creation of a body of knowledge?
+ Act as consultant and tactician - have a solid understanding of human and social factors, information, communication, experience, organizations, systems and delivery platforms to be able to evaluate information problems in order to recommend and guide the organization toward the best possible solutions?
+ Exceptional oral and written communication skills with the ability to thoughtfully articulate and present information design ideas and concepts in formal and informal settings?
**Qualifications, Skills and Experience:**
An effective Senior Designer will be a mixture of **brand evangelist, value miner and ardent differentiator,** with an ability to absorb and promote complex stories quickly.
**Required Professional and Technical Expertise**
+ Six years experience in a designer role
+ Foundational specialized knowledge/experience in graphic and visual design
+ Experience across various industries including marketing and media
+ Specialized knowledge/experience in marketing strategy, design and/or writing
+ Experience designing complex proposal and pitch materials, or complex campaign information
+ Conversant and comfortable with IT technology business and terminology
+ Proven higher-level executive and client interaction skills.
+ Experience in a consulting environment (design or marketing) with a proven customer-central attitude and personality
+ Experience in deadline driven environments
+ Degree in graphic design or related discipline
+ Foundational Field of study **:** Graphic/Visual Design, Multimedia Design, Digital Design or Marketing
**Preferred Professional and Technical Expertise**
+ Further Education inMarketing, Communications, Design, Journalism or similar field (logic, creativity, business acumen, complexity)
