The Communications Strategist is a key member of the Internal Communications Team within Vanguard s Investment Management Group (IMG). The person in this role will work closely with the Communications Lead to build and implement plans and processes that improve internal and change communications. This person will also manage the development of compelling crew communications that reinforce strategic pillars and priorities through various channels, including O365 Teams and Stream video. This role will serve as the communications representative for the division when the Lead is unavailable. We are seeking candidates who have a proven track record of developing integrated communications strategies, executing on those strategies, and using metrics to gauge success. They should be comfortable using multiple communication channels and platforms to deliver messages and be agile enough to pivot between multiple projects that are at different levels of complexity. The candidate landing this role will be a self-starter with exceptional communications and relationship management skills, who has demonstrated the ability to prioritize, work quickly, and manage ambiguity. Finally, the person will be a team player who is willing to help their colleagues on large projects.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Co-leads the development and execution of the divisional internal communications plan to align crew to the division s strategy. Responsible for all phases of the communication development process meeting business needs with efficient use of resources.
Determines prioritization of divisional and local communications. Integrates all communications projects into master scheduler to provide air traffic control of messages to target audiences.
Owns the process of communications day to day operations ensuring local businesses know who to contact to meet their local communications needs.
Provides decisions on all creative content, channel & prioritization. Maintains the integrity, consistency and effectiveness of the communications channels.
Supports communications partners and leaders in negotiating with the business when there is a conflict over creative content or vehicle recommendation. Provides guidance and coaching as necessary.
Influences positioning to ensure line of sight and connectedness to business goals. Ensures communications best practices and adherence to communications guiding principles and Vanguard brand standards.
Leverages communications industry best practices into divisional communications plan. Proactively sources news, case studies & training opportunities to inspire and develop creative professionals.
Participates in special projects and performs other duties as assigned.
Undergraduate degree in Business, Communications, or Marketing required, master s degree preferred or equivalent combination of training and experience.
Minimum eight years of communications and/or marketing experience.
Demonstrated project management, writing/editing, and strategic thinking skills.
Demonstrated ability to develop and execute comprehensive communication programs.
Demonstrated ability to exert influence with internal stakeholders, from middle management to senior leadership.
Demonstrated organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to provide guidance and mentoring to creative professionals.
Ability to think creatively, work independently, and self-manage time.
Demonstrated initiative (self-starting).
Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
Experience in SharePoint strongly preferred.
