Serving as an integral member of the Marketing team, the Vice President (VP) of Marketing & Communications will be responsible for the development, integration, and implementation of world-class marketing and communications activities that will contribute to the Crohn's & Colitis Foundation's strategic priorities. The VP will be an ambassador for the organization and will play a key role in creating the internal and external messaging for the Foundation, and will also lead a number of key marketing programs.. Communications:. The VP works with the Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) and the President & Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to establish and guide the organization's communications strategy, positioning the Foundation as a leader and trusted source among its many stakeholders. The position requires the ability not only to think and plan strategically, but to execute on those plans and deliver communications that present the mission, objectives and programs of the Crohn's & Colitis Foundation in compelling ways to a variety of audiences while deepening public understanding of the Foundation's work.. The VP is the content architect and chief strategist for internal and external communications, including the voice and positioning of the Foundation's website and full ownership of the social media strategy. S/he also will establish and lead an internal content council, and supports the organization with key external communications activities.. Marketing Programs and Services:. The VP takes the lead on marketing efforts in support of the Foundation's extensive peer-to-peer programming, including Team Challenge, Take Steps and spin4 crohn's & colitis cures, as well as the annual Crohn's & Colitis Congress (a professional conference). S/he takes the lead on marketing strategy in partnership with each of these program's business leaders and guides the successful implementation and delivery of all these marketing programs, with clear targets and accountabilities.. Key Responsibilities:. Developing, implementing and assessing the Foundation's content strategy and content calendar, in keeping with the Foundation's overall strategy and brand guidelines, including:. Managing the ongoing delivery of several internal newsletters to staff, high level chapter volunteers, board alumni, and our National Scientific Advisory Counsel. Creating and distributing ad hoc internal messages to staff as needed. Developing, implementing and assessing the Foundation's external public relations strategy. Leading and continuously assessing and adjusting the Foundation's social media channels, in keeping with the Foundation's overall strategy and brand guidelines. Providing essential marketing support to the Foundation's Peer to Peer programs and the annual professional conference co-managed with the American Gastroenterological Association. This includes developing and implementing the marketing strategy; managing the flawless and timely execution of these programs; and assessing the results of these programs and adjusting strategies as needed.. Working with the CMO on the Foundation's overall Brand Awareness messaging and PSA strategy. Leading/supporting various marketing projects in support of key organization initiatives. Managing and developing a small team of writers, marketers and vendors to deliver against the above responsibilities.. Developing appropriate analytics to adjust strategies and measure achievement of key targets and goals.. QUALIFICATIONS:. At least 10 years of senior level marketing and communications leadership experience, including marketing strategy and social media. Experience in developing, mentoring, and coaching a team of marketing and communications professionals. Ideally, demonstrated experience and leadership in managing media relations, public relations, and public affairs. Demonstrated experience and success in leading cross functional teams in matrixed organizations and external partnerships. Strong interpersonal, relationship management, collaboration, and customer service skills. Exceptional written, verbal, interpersonal, and presentation skills. Bachelor's degree required. MBA and/or professional certification in marketing preferred. Innovative thinker, with a track record of translating strategic thinking into successful tactics and measurable results.
