Description: The position, part of the Advanced Technology Laboratories (ATL) and Enterprise Operations teams, manages media relations, employee communications, community relations, marketing communications, and provides counsel to the ATL director and senior leadership team. The position is responsible for managing the formulation and execution of strategic communications initiatives for Lockheed Martins Advanced Technology Laboratories, in alignment with Lockheed Martins Corporate Engineering, Technology, and Operations (CETO) organization.
The position also supports Lockheed Martins Technology Strategy & Research in the creation and execution of the communication strategy.
The position reports to the Director of ATL as a member of the ATL senior leadership team in Cherry Hill, N.J., and is dotted lined to the Enterprise Operations Communications staff in Bethesda, Md.

Key Responsibilities:
Provide communications counsel to the ATL Director and senior leadership team. Develop messages that articulate ATLs vision and strategy, aligning technology and business goals.
Serve as communications counsel for Corporate Vice President, Technology Strategy & Research Global Research & Development, and the Global R&D organization (including the Center for Innovation, STELaRLab and Technology Programs).
Develop messaging articulating organizations vision and strategy.
Manage executive communications programs that ensure consistent, two-way communications throughout the organization.
Develop and implement integrated communications strategy for ATL and Technology Strategy & Research Global R&D, including focus on external communications, internal communications and community outreach.
Direct strategic external communications activities to protect and enhance both ATLs and Technology Strategy & Researchs Global R&Ds reputation. Proactively shape and pitch stories; prep and counsel personnel for interviews; build and foster relationships with media and online outlets.
Manage production of compelling content packages for use across paid, earned, owned and shared communications channels. Leverage Lockheed Martins marketing communications infrastructure, including external web and social media sites, to share Technology Strategy & Researchs Global R&Ds and ATLs technology stories.
Provide clear and accurate communications to employees. Develop and manage a communications infrastructure that facilitates engagement across the organization.
Manage ATLs and Technology Strategy & Researchs Global R&Ds presence on the Lockheed Martin intranet.
Maintain ATL's and Technology Strategy & Researchs Global R&Ds involvement in community outreach initiatives. Ensure alignment with Lockheed Martin sites located in nearby communities.
Work closely with the Corporate Communications team on enterprise-wide communications campaigns focused on emerging technologies and other projects as necessary. Interface with the CETO organization and Lockheed Martins broader laboratory infrastructure to demonstrate collective impact to the Corporation.
Deliver results on deadline and on/under budget; outline and gain consensus on deliverables; set/manage expectations; set scope/handle communications (launch, updates, completion) with project team and broader stakeholders; debrief for learning.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelors of Science in Communications, Journalism, or Public Relations.
At least 7-10 years of experience across the communications genres, particularly media relations.
Proven ability to instantiate complex matter into compelling messages.
Proven ability to positively resolve difficult internal and external issues using crises communications skills.
