Nutraceutical Scientist - Business Developer

We are seeking a Nutraceutical Sales Leader with a science background or related field to significantly increase sales, coordinate productions and supervise QC of our US office in Miami, FL.

  • Must create strong relationships with customers and suppliers in the nutraceutical industry and grow sales and net profit margins year-over-year. Grow the business by developing new reputable customers/suppliers, and identifying new growth opportunities with existing customers. Qualify new leads.
  • Represent Silicium Laboratories at industry events (Trade Shows, meetings, etc.) - some travel required.
  • Work with CEO/Sales Manager to identify top accounts and target companies.
  • Interpret customer requests. Create ideas for development proposals, such as great-tasting powdered beverages or tablets designed with our ingredients. Work with R&D teams, Manufacturing, supply chain, etc. if needed.
  • Provide customers with technical support on dietary supplement formulations.
  • Customer education through research, and seminars.
  • Process orders for ingredients; B2B business sales.
  • Keep our, sales and technical material updated.
  • Work on monthly email blasts and content creation if needed.
  • Review new projects/potential projects for price quotes.
  • Work with operations to fulfill customer needs.
  • Maintain sales contacts in the CRM tool (HubSpot).
  • Manage inventory levels to support the business.
  • Submission of ingredient paperwork, promotions, price changes, specification changes.

Time allocation: 50% Business Development / 25% Account Maintenance / 25% QC & Purchasing and Production Planner.

  • Science Background a plus. Health Science Education Background preferred. Food science, chemistry, biology, pharmaceutical engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum 3 years experience in dietary supplements (capsules, soft gels, liquids, powders, gummies, and/or nutrition bars) preferred or related field.
  • Previous Sales Experience required. Previous Customer Service experience is a plus.
  • Must be able to read and interpret documents such as standard operating procedures, and regulations.
  • Must be able to work cross-functionally with many different departments and various skill levels.
  • Knowledge of Food & Supplement regulations (including DSHEA, FD&C Act Section 21 CFR 111) is preferred.
  • Ability to objectively review scientific literature to help support ingredient or product efficacy.
  • Ability to deal with complex problems with many variables.
  • Basic skills in math, including algebra are required.
  • Meticulous attention to detail.
  • Ability to produce high quality work with limited supervision.
  • Must possess knowledge pertaining to the nutraceutical industry and must be well versed in a variety of ingredients, their usage, forms, activities and all other relevant characteristics.
  • Must be proficient with MS Office and have advanced Excel skills.
