The University of Virginia's College at Wise invites applications for a Copywriter & Content Specialist. This position supports UVa Wise's communications priorities and programming through the development of print and digital copy and social media content. Reporting to the Marketing Director, the Copywriter & Content Specialist develops clear, persuasive and compelling written copy that promotes the College's culture, life, programming and thought-leadership in a compelling way. The position will plan and execute social media marketing campaigns, developing social posts and content to generate interest and engagement with the College's key audiences. The Copywriter & Content Specialist monitors and tracks social media mentions and provides topline reports, and collaborates with colleagues within the communications team and across the College to support UVa Wise's marketing needs and broader strategic objectives.
A bachelor's degree in English, communications, or a related field is required, along with at least three years of experience in writing marketing copy. The successful candidate must have strong verbal and written communication skills; excellent organizational and planning skills; the ability to communicate using various media; the ability to meet deadlines and handle multiple projects simultaneously; an understanding of branding, brand positioning and the importance of brand voice and narrative to tell a compelling brand story over time, to many audiences over several platforms; exacting attention to detail; and experience working both independently and as part of a team and to accept and translate feedback.

Education: Bachelor's degree in English, Communications, or a related field.

This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require walking some distance to attend meetings, and programs.
