Job Summary: We are seeking a survey methodologist. This role will require working with a team of substantive and operational specialists to implement and evaluate surveys conducted for a wide variety of clients in both the public and private sectors. Job Responsibilities: Conducting methodological research to develop and improve survey procedures and capabilities, as well as serving on survey projects. As a methodologist on data collection projects provide development and design expertise across all modes (in-person, telephone, web, self-administered) and will share responsibility with project staff for development activities. Basic Qualifications: Must currently hold a bachelor's degree in survey methodology or a similar quantitative field of study. Obtainment of a master's degree in survey methodology by May 2020 is required. In doing methodological research, the candidate will work independently, as part of a team with other senior members, or lead small research projects. Examples of the methodological areas that are of particular interest include, but are not limited to, the use of paradata, questionnaire design, pretesting methods, the design and testing of web-based surveys, computer-based training for survey staff, methods to increase response rates, experiments with surveys, as well as nonresponse and other survey error evaluations. Qualified candidate must have excellent written and oral communication skills; strong organizational skills; and the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously. A Westat internship in survey methodology is strongly preferred.
